The University of Leicester Islamic Society are holding a ladies only evening on 27th November 2006 to promote Hijab (muslim head covering). This is to create dialogue between muslims and non-muslims and to create greater awareness of why in Islam, the Hijab( muslim head covering) is a common practise especially with all the current controversy around the Islamic dress code, it is a much needed event to clear out the mis-conceptions individuals may or may not have about the hijab. Learn more about why Islam tells women to cover up and also how this practise of Hijab is actually preavlent in other religions alike. Come along as there's plently to keep you interested including a three course meal,fashion shows, talks by personalities such as Naeema Roberts, author of "From My Sisters Lips," Rajnaara Akhtar,a local solicitor who is also part of the Pro Hijab Campaign, Poetic Pilgrimage, the UK's first female Muslims Rap Artists/Spoken Word Poets, islamic songs and more.
